Credit Crunch? Yummy, I did it eeeeeeeBay :)

    By DBL | January 30, 2009

Well, Anorak is sick of all the doom and gloom around lately and being the most sickeningly (?) optimistically person for a mile around my desk, I have to share this with you …

Recession, Credit Crunch, Economic Downturn well listen, you know what, it’s made one whole million times worse by the media.

Scenario, Guy 1 says, ‘you better not spend, you’ll be out of a job soon, it’s gonna be bad’. Guy 2 thinks, right, I’d better not buy a new car this year, I’d better sit on my money ‘just in case’.  Word spreads, it must be true because it’s on the TV news and in the tabloids.

No one buys a new car this year, car plants go on short time working, stop producing cars, car component makers have to lay off workers and can’t afford to pay workers for 4 months off without pay. They end up without a job and have no money to spend on anything above the essentials, no holidays, airport staff & airline companies get laid off, less on new clothes, textile industry suffers and so on and so on until Guy 1 is out of a job.

Domino effect starts, and no one can stop it.

Well, here it is, the big secret, the money’s still out there, we just have to find another way & acquire the relevant tools to get our houses in order once again. At risk of starting a storm (no references to UK weather please) we need to buy Local, buy homegrown & home produced where possible to kickstart this economy. Oh and stop listening to this doom and gloom, tune in to good things that feed your brain and make you feel more optimistic I do can you tell? I recommend this guy’s writings for a start, Geoff keeps the Anorak’s sanity on a level that stops the rot.

Having been made redundant myself in the middle of post natal illness, it was a long road to recovery.  There’s something about being kicked when you’re down that eventually makes you come back fighting. I did (yes you’ve guessed it) via  eBay.

    Queue the YouTube video …

To the company who made me redundant I say, I can’t thank you enough for the opportunity you gave me to live my life without the straight jacket that is the 9 to 5.  Thank you for a life without a boss where I am the boss. My work is now part of my life and I love it with a passion, rather than my life being part of my work as was.

If my little ones are off school ill, I’m at home, if I feel like a day off or a holiday, I take it, no permission needed.  My life has never been richer thanks to my redundancy. No office politics and loads of friends around the world to chat with whenever I choose *waves*  ‘cos I did it eeeeBay 😀

Now, back to the post subject, I know it’s a bit more complicated than that, but you get my gist right?

Economic Downturn? Not in my eBay shop, the only reason my sales go down is because I haven’t got off my lazy fat lardy @ss and listed more!

Credit Crunch?  eBayers eat Credit Crunch for breakfast (off my motto list).

Recession?  No, a new challenge and a fresh start, necessity breeds adaptation to a new situation.

Right, eBay Anorak zipped enough for now … care or dare to comment?   😉
