  • TG Green Cornishware Pottery’s coming home!

    By DBL | May 30, 2009

Anorak read in the local paper this week about TG Green Pottery coming back to it’s South Derbyshire (UK) roots.  The Burton Mail article tells of the company being repatriated to it’s home in Church Gresley and is hoping to employ some of it’s former staff.

The popular blue and white striped cornishware pottery has enjoyed a healthy interest and matching prices on eBay.

    The Burton Mail says:

Despite continuing popularity, the firm went into administration in 2007 and the blue and white pottery became scarce, demanding breathtaking prices on online auction site eBay.

I’m sure the new pottery will have a different mark than the familliar one’s collected on eBay so I don’t think that the prices will change too much.

An Open day at Sharpe’s Pottery Museum in Swadlincote has been held in hope of finding more of the former experienced workers, with a Cornish Blue Cream tea to boot!

Great news for Anorak’s local area, shame about Mason Cash and also Bretby Art Pottery who were also casualties of recent times in this once pottery rich area.

Do you know anyone who worked there? Do you have any memories of Gresley Potteries?

    By DBL | March 27, 2009

Anorak came across this listing via a colleagues twitter feed, for sale on eBay is a red Rover car, the description is truthful pointing out any flaws, extremely funny and the communication via ‘ask seller a question’ (ASQ) is amazing and must get 5 stars when sold.

Sorry folks, it seems this Rover listing has been cancelled or just removed by ebay, what a shame, it was worth it’s megabites in humour value … watch this space for further looney listings.

For the love of TG Green Cornish Blue Pottery …

    By DBL | March 16, 2009

For lovers of the TG Green Cornish Blue Pottery, there’s news that it may be coming back home to Anorak’s village.  The much sought after blue and white striped pottery can be found by collectors on eBayat a pretty price and was originally made but 10 minutes walk away from Anorak’s humble dwelling in rural South Derbyshire in the East Midlands region of the UK.

The new owner Mr Charles Rickards is a lifelong cornishware fan and has applied for planning permission to build a new premises in close proximity to the original factory.  Previous experienced workers are invited to visit www.tggreen.co.uk for information on possible job vacancies as reported here in The Burton Mail our local newspaper.

What great news for the area for a change, what a happy story 😉

    Anorak is smiling 🙂

What is a Paypal Top Up Card?

    By DBL | February 15, 2009

Another question I’ve been asked is about the Paypal top up card

The Paypal top up card costs £4.95 and can be topped up from your Paypal account for free, Paypoint or at a Post Office (costs £1). Monies transferred from your Paypal account appear on your card’s balance in around 24 hours whereas a Paypal transfer to one’s bank account takes 3-5 days, although you don’t need a bank account for a top up card as long as you are over 16.
